WEBSITES & GRAPHICS:
This is where it gets interesting.
I've been building websites and doing graphic work for over 10 years
now. I started with an interest in adding "neat stuff" to an email
page with webtv. That threw me head first into HTML.
The graphic
part came in when I didn't want to be restricted by what was
offered. I wanted my own backgrounds, logos, animations, buttons,
lines and images. I didn't want to use a template, I wanted the
freedom of designing the page any way I wanted to. That's when I discovered Adobe Photoshop.
| Now, this
program is too much fun, here are some early edits,

My belief is, anyone can build a website, but I find most people
just don't want to. The biggest problem with building a website for
someone is finding out what they want. I go about that by finding
out what they don't want. Every site I've designed has come straight
from the client. I love it when I send something to them and they
say "that's it, I love it!". That's also when the real work starts.
If I were to offer templates, my life would be so much easier.
I started my HTML education with a site called
Dracc. He had all the info you needed for webtv and more,
then on to
htmlgoodies.com which led to
javascripts.com and many more.
I have a bad habit of learning just what I need to know to do what I
need to do. Because of that and the fact that things are constantly
changing, it's always a challenging learning experience.
When first introduced to FrontPage, I thought, "wow, this is so
easy, no coding!" it's always good to know some html so you can fix
things when something goes wrong.
I tried to learn Flash 5 but seemed to have a mental block.
Now, DirectNic, the domain registrar I use has gone to cPanel. Which
would be a good thing if I could get it to work. Sometime change
isn't good but I figure it will all work out in time. At least I
hope so.
I've taught a lot of people how to build websites, edit them and get
them listed. It's about time I did one for myself.
After doing some reading, I've
found out that my HTML is out of date.

So, I'm going to CoffeeCup and check out their software, then
maybe to Corel.
Knowing how to code and liking it are two different things.
I want something easy. It's
always good to know coding so you can fix things that go
wrong, but it sure is nice not to have to use it.
I always shop around to get
the best deal for the money so I'll be visiting a lot
of places to see what I want to buy. I'll let you know
what I end up with. |

The good news is, you can turn
your website into a Mobile App, wow, not only that
but there are a lot of new things you can add to it due to ie9 and
win7, like PIN! You can add it to a site and instead of
bookmark or add to favorites, you can have your visitors simply drag
your favicon onto their task bar and desktop - Instant link back to
your site. I tried it at
HTMLgoodies, love it! Go check it
out
here.
